Katy Perry fans may have reason to celebrate, as several signs are pointing to the fact that the pop phenom is not only gearing up to start the next leg of her massively successful career, but that new music might be coming sooner than many people expected. In fact, Katy herself seems to be suggesting that everybody needs to be prepared for what could be a new single (rumored to be called “Chained To The Rhythm”) to drop as early as this week, though no release date or details have been made public officially.
Here is the evidence that leads me to believe that Perry is about to unleash some much-needed radio-friendly pop onto the world
She’s Performing At The Grammys
Just last night, Perry quoted a tweet posted by the Recording Academy, the body behind the Grammys, announcing that the pop star had been added to the program of performers. With no nominations this year (Katy has been nominated 13 times but never won), the fact that somebody as big as her is performing likely means that she has some special reason to be there. If the timing were different, her appearance might have been part of a collaboration, but when combined with the evidence below, new music seems more likely.

While it is possible that she may debut a new song at the Grammys, it’s more likely that Katy and her team will drop the track this week at some point, and then she will further promote the brand new release at the award show. That way, she can get a number of news cycles out of one piece of music, and her super fans will be able to sing along when she takes to the biggest stage offered to musicians.
She’s Got A New Look
Around the same time that she made sure her fans saw that she’d be taking to the Grammys stage this coming Sunday, the “Roar” singer also posted a photo on Instagram and updated her profile picture on her major social accounts, including Twitter and Facebook. In the new snap, she has ditched her dark hair for bright blonde locks, and she is wearing a light pink feathered (or furred, it’s not clear) number in soft lighting.
