Solange, Lil Wayne, & Pharrell to Headline Roots Picnic 2017 2

Solange, Lil Wayne and Pharrell Williams with the Roots will headline the 10th annual Roots Picnic, which hits Philadelphia’s Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing on June 3rd.

“This definitely speaks to the staying power of the Roots and the uniqueness of the Picnic as a good festival,” the Roots’ Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter told Philly.com. “Not many music festivals last, have a 10 year run or hold such validity and stay consistently good-and-getting better.”

The 10th anniversary of the one-day fest will also feature 21 Savage, Kimbra, Pete Rock and Black Thought & J. Period’s Live Mixtape, which will feature Fat Joe, Mobb Deep and one-time Roots keyboardist Scott Storch. “This is the official original Roots reunion with Philly’s own Scott Storch,” Black Thought said of the producer.

Other acts include Michael Kiwanuka, Thundercat, Noname, James Vincent McMorrow, Virgil Abloh and more to-be-announced acts.

Tickets for the Roots Picnic are on sale now; check out the festival’s site for more information.

Previous iterations of the Roots Picnic have seen long-running hip-hop group and Tonight Show house band team with Snoop Dogg, Public Enemy and, at the 2016 fest, Usher.

As with previous Roots Picnics, Black Thought will also lead a 5K charity run for the morning of June 3rd, with proceeds benefitting the GrassROOTS Foundation.

As noted by Questlove on Instagram, the lineup leaked earlier than expected:
