Mexican Music singer Arrested After Severe Allegations Of Criminal Exultation In Latest Music Video

Mexican music star Gerardo Ortiz was arrested by the Federal Police Saturday night at the Guadalajara Airport in Mexico, according to multiple media outlets.

The Mexican government recently issued a warrant for Ortiz’s arrest which charged him with criminal exaltation in the music video for his single “Fuiste mia,” which translates to “You Used To Be Mine.”

The controversial music video depicts, rather graphically, a relationship that has taken a wrong turn. The video starts off with a shower sex scene between a woman and Ortiz, who plays a drug dealer. It ends with the woman, dead, shot between the eyes.

In another scene, the mistress is fondled as she’s bound and gagged, and then she is thrown into the trunk of a car. Ortiz’s character lights a cigarette, sets the car on fire and walks away.

Pretty brutal stuff.

It took weeks for the video to be taken off the international video hosting service Vevo, but not before it garnered a reported 30 million page views.

Though Ortiz called it a work of fiction, the Mexican government still wants to look into it. And if he is found guilty, a charge of criminal exaltation is relatively minor and usually comes with a one- to six-month prison sentence.
