Alexandra Reeve-Givens Names Newborn Son In Tribute To Father Christopher Reeve

It’s one of the sweetest tributes of the year.

Alexandra Reeve Givens, the daughter of the late Christopher Reeve, welcomed her first child in June with husband Garren Givens.

Their son is named Christopher.

The new parents named the baby Christopher Russel Reeve Givens “after his grandfathers on each side, two very important role models for Garren and Alexandra,” a representative of the family told People.

Christopher Reeve, who became an inspiration worldwide after being paralyzed in a 1995 horse riding accident, died in 2004 at the age of 52 from heart failure. The Superman star spent his later years as a tireless advocate for paralysis research and treatment, launching the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation with his wife.

Reeve’s grandson was born on June 13 in Washington, D.C., weighing 8 lbs., 3 oz.

Alexandra, 31, the daughter of Reeve and Gae Exton, currently works as a senior counsel in the United States Senate and an adjunct professor at Columbia Law School. Garren, 33, works in the Obama administration as the director of the Presidential Innovation Fellows program.

People reports the couple met while both were studying at Yale University and married in 2008.
