The Backstreet Boys, the boy band that’s avoided a spiral into obscurity, have extended their “In a World Like This” tour because of “overwhelming demand.”

The tour marks the 20th anniversary of the boy band that, along with other spiky-hair, baby-faced, harmonizing rivals ’N Sync and 98 Degrees, dominated the pop charts and the hearts of young girls worldwide. Those fans are now old enough to have their own little tykes to drag to the show.

The tour is the band’s first as a quintet in more than seven years after Kevin Richardson returned to the group in 2012.

The Backstreet Boys will begin the new North American leg on May 3 in Moncton, Canada after wrapping an extensive outing in Europe.

The 35-date trek will conclude in June in Wantagh, N.Y. The tour will stop in L.A. on May 29 with a gig at the revamped Forum in Inglewood.

Avril Lavigne will open.

Tickets go on sale March 21 through Live Nation.
