Matthew McConaughey Asking Hollywood To Calm Down From Constantly Vilafying Trump

Matthew McConaughey is urging his fellow Hollywood actors to “embrace” President Trump.

In an interview with BBC this week, show host Andrew Marr compared the characters in McConaughey’s new movie “Gold” to “not Trump’s America, but this is small-time, central redneck America sticking one up to the snotty East Coast and the elites.”

He then asked McConaughey if it was time for Hollywood to give the president a break.

“They don’t have a choice now,” McConaughey answered. “He’s our president. It’s very dynamic and as divisive of a time and inauguration as we’ve had, at the same time, it’s time for us to embrace. Shake hands with this fact, be constructive with him over the next four years.”

The actor suggested that Americans should look for ways to be “constructive” even if they disagree with Trump.

“Even those who most strongly may disagree with his principles or things he’s said or done – which is another thing, we’ll see what he does compared to what he has said – no matter how much you disagreed along the way, it’s time to think how constructive can you be. Because he’s out president for the next four years, at least,” he said.

Hollywood has largely scorned Trump, and many top stars supported his opponent Hillary Clinton during the election.
