30 Rock” could be back for a seventh and final shortened season, according to Deadline.com. The website reports that NBC is eying the Tina Fey comedy to return for one more year for 13 or so episodes after locking in several key behind-the-scenes players. This plan aligns with what series star Alec Baldwin has told the press and what “30 Rock” star/creator Fey has hinted at.

In early April 2012, Fey appeared on “The View” and told the co-hosts “that the end of the show is visible on the horizon.”

Both Fey and Baldwin are contracted through Season 7.

According to Deadline.com, “Parks and Recreation” is also looking likely for another season, albeit a shortened one. This would be its fifth season. “Community” is also in the running for a shortened Season 4.

However, if “30 Rock” and “Community” do return, some players will be absent. “30 Rock’s” Kay Cannon has moved to Fox’s “New Girl” and “Community” co-showrunners Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan have signed a two-year deal with 20th Century Fox TV.

The returning comedies would join recently picked-up new comedies including Matthew Perry’s “Go On,” Anne Heche’s “Save Me,” Ryan Murphy’s “The New Normal,” Josh Gad’s “1600 Penn” and the Justin Kirk-fronted “Animal Practice.”

On the drama side of things, “Hannibal” and J.J. Abrams/Eric Kripke’s post-apocalyptic drama have also gotten series orders. They’re joined by the sophomore seasons of “Grimm” and “Smash,” which are on NBC’s 2012-2013 slate.

Request for comment from NBC was not immediately returned.
