Netflix Working To Set Kevin James With 'The True Memoirs Of An International Assassin'

Since Netflix’s Adam Sandler deal is going so well, the streaming service has decided to expand its collection of goofy comedies with the help of one of Sandler’s vacation buddies: Kevin James. As reported by Variety, Netflix has picked up James’ The True Memoirs Of An International Assassin, with the movie set to premiere at “a Netflix event in 2016.” It’ll be skipping theaters entirely, then, but Variety says the budget will still be “considerable” and “on par with other James movies made by major studios.” We imagine that’s a bit of news that will make a bunch of movie studios and theater chains very happy.

The True Memoirs Of An International Assassin—which is being directed by Kick-Ass 2’s Jeff Wadlow—is about an accountant (James) who writes a fiction book about an assassin. When the book is accidentally published as non-fiction, though, people start to believe that James really is a professional killer. Assuming it’s not as actively racist as those Adam Sandler movies we mentioned earlier, it sounds goofy enough to waste a few hours with next year. Let’s just hope Kevin James falling down is as funny on a computer screen as it is in a theater!
