Oscar De La Hoya scored a knockout in court this week after a judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by model Angelica Cecora. As you may recall, Angelica was with Oscar when he took those infamous fishnet photos and claimed he had made her his “sexual prisoner” that night.
Justice Paul Wooten didn’t seem to agree, calling Cecora’s accusations “frivolous.” That turned out to be very good news for the Golden Boy, who stood to lose $5 million if Angelica was victorious.
“I am glad to be able to put this outrageous case behind me. My past was dark, but my future is bright,” De La Hoya said after the trial. “Many celebrities are often targeted out of greed, and it is important to stand your ground.”
Indeed Oscar went in to the courthouse fighting. He hired some of the best lawyers in the business and challenged Cecora’s motives for the suit (including the fact that she held several press conferences beforehand). But this may not be the last time we hear from Angelica. She and her attorney have vowed to appeal.
