The “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” movie you’ve been waiting for is close to reality. According to Deadline.com, Sony Pictures is looking to bring the teen troublemaker to the big screen by giving her what’s being described as a “superhero makeover.”

“Sabrina” first started as a comic book series from Archie in the 1970s. It’s probably best known now for its sit-com version, which aired for seven seasons between 1996 and 2003. That series starred Melissa Joan Hart, post “Clarissa Explains It All,” as the titular teen witch who lived with her two witch-y aunts (played by Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick) and her black cat, Salem.

For the movie version, Salem will become a prince-turned-cat that Sabrina loves. (Hollywood, y’all!) Mark Waters (“Mean Girls”) may direct.

Watch the opening credits of Hart’s “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” below and start fantasy casting in the comments section. Here’s one vote for “Glee” star Dianna Agron.

Head over to Deadline.com to find out which superhero movie Sony hopes inspires “Sabrina.”
