Sirius XM honors Pitbull by giving him his own XM channel

Pitbull wants to conquer the world and his next move is a step in that direction.

The Cuban-American rapper is setting up to host a weekly radio channel on SiriusXM, the company announced Monday.

The channel will feature the Miami native playing music from multiple genres and of course many of his international hits like “Timber” featuring Ke$ha.

“First of all, I want to thank SiriusXM for the opportunity to touch my fans in a more personal way,” said Pitbull in a statement. “I will also get a chance to play all the music that I love and grew up listening – most of all, we are going to have a lot of fun in the process – so, preparense y daleeeeee.”

SiriusXM has created channels with a select number of artists over the years including, Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Radio, Jimmy Buffett’s Radio Margaritaville and Willie Nelson’s Roadhouse.

Pitbull, whose real name is Armando Christian Perez, has had #1 hits in more than 15 countries. He most recently performed “We Are One (Ole Ola) with Jennifer Lopez and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

“We are thrilled to team up with Pitbull in the creation of this exciting new music channel that will reach his massive audience. Pitbull is truly ‘Mr. Worldwide,’ and his music and collaborations have drawn legions of fans who will now have access to a full-time channel that he is creating especially for them,” said Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer, SiriusXM in a statement. “Pitbull will bring the excitement and energy of his live appearances to the channel, only on SiriusXM.”

Along with this recent music endeavor, Pitbull is a burgeoning entrepreneur with his own line of premium vodka (Voli), partnerships with Playboy Enterprises and Sheets, the dissolvable energy stop and premier fragrances for men and women. He recently confirmed a headlining North American tour with Enrique Iglesias.

His goal for all of this is to grow a billion-dollar enterprise.

“Do I think it’s realistic to be a billion-dollar company by 35? Absolutely,” the 33-year-old told The Hollywood Reporter in its April cover story.
