The Soup is ending after 22 years, E! has announced.
Variety reports the series that pokes fun at reality TV and talk shows will air its final episode on December 18 at 10 PM. New episodes will continue to air on Fridays leading up to the finale.
The Soup has seen a number of hosts since it began in 1991 as “Talk Soup,” including Greg Kinnear, John Henson, Hal Sparks, and Aisha Tyler. After Tyler it went off the air for two years, and was rebranded as “The Soup” in 2004 with host Joel McHale taking over. McHale signed an extension deal in October 2014 to extend the show through 2016, but it appears that deal has been cut short.
The host went on twitter to share his gratitude to the shows’ fans, saying:
Part 1: I loved doing @TheSoup for all of these years(86 to be exact) but am excited to focus solely on my acting career now(soft core)…

Part 2: Thanks to all who watched and thanks to Kim Kardashian's ass for all that it's done for me and my family. #SpaghettiCat
