TIDAL Announces Benefit Concert To Commemorate Reaching 1 Million Users With Huge Lineup

Talk about a lineup! In honor of Tidal’s one million subscriber milestone, Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Prince are set to headline Tidal X: 1020, a benefit concert for the popular streaming site. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The star-studded mega concert will also feature performances by Usher, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and more, according to Entertainment Weekly on Sept. 30.

The Tidal benefit concert is set for Oct. 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and it will be livestreamed on the Tidal website. The livestream will also feature an interface for remote viewers to donate to New World Foundation to help charities with civil rights causes. Tickets for the show will run from $74 to $244, and Tidal subscribers have first dibs before seats go on sale to the general public on Friday at noon ET.

In addition to the big name headliners, the bill includes Damian Marley, Alessia Cara, Benjamin Booker, Jidenna, Hit-Boy, Flatbush Zombies, Indochine, Fabulous, Thomas Rhett, DJ Cipha Sounds, DJ Reflex, Bas, Justine Sky, and Raur. The concert’s eclectic lineup paves the way for some interesting collaborations, especially for the duet-happy Beyonce, who recently performed an unexpected duet with Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder at the Global Citizen Festival in New York. The unlikely duo teamed up to perform a cover of the Bob Marley’s classic “Redemption Song” at the Central Park-based concert.

Jay-Z purchased the Norwegian streaming service for $54 million earlier this year, so it’s no surprise his wife and some of their famous friends are teaming up to perform for Tidal’s charity show. The rap mogul had the support of a slew of musical A-listers for his site’s launch six months ago. A 32-second-long promo featured cameos from Rihanna, Beyonce, Madonna, and some of the stars even urged their fans to make their social media profile pics blue in support of the new service.
