FOX Shares News On Upcoming X-Men TV Series ‘Gifted’

FOX Allegedly Scheduling Storylines To Reboot X-Men Movie Franchise

The working title of the X-Men spinoff TV show has been revealed. The show is now in production, and is being referred to as Gifted.

The news come via X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who tweeted an image of a script reading session, with the words: “Cast reading of Gifted.” Check it out below:

EW have since confirmed that this is a working title, and could change between now and the show’s broadcast date, which is currently unknown.

Gifted is set to star Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Jamie Chung (Big Hero 6), Amy Acker (Person of Interest), Emma Dumont (Inherent Vice), and Percy Hynes White (Night at the Museum 3). It will be shot in Dallas, with long time X-Men director Bryan Singer helming the pilot episode. Donner also tweeted an image of the cast and crew arriving Dallas.

The show will focus upon mutant teenagers who are forced to go on the run after their powers emerge. It is being overseen by Burn Notice creator Matt Nix, who has previously stated that it will link directly with the X-Men movie universe.

It is known that Blink and Polaris are among the Marvel comic book characters who will appear in the series, as well as mutant-hunting robots Sentinels. “There are a certain amount of [familiar] characters that I can use and am using and then other characters I’m inventing,” Nix said in a recent interview. “But everything is invented with a nod toward the existing mythology.”

Gifted isn’t Fox’s first attempt at an X-Men series. In 2015 it was reported that the network was developing a show called Hellfire, but this was later abandoned in place of this new series. Another X-Men related show–Legion–is currently screening on FX to much acclaim.
