Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O Shares solo album 2

Over the past two years, Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O released the acclaimed album “Mosquito” with her band and performed at the Oscars. Next up, she’s getting a little more personal, as she prepares her first-ever solo album.

Karen O announced her plans to release “Crush Songs” on Sept. 9 via Cult, the record label owned by Strokes’ frontman Julian Casablancas. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer shared the following note via her website:

When I was 27 I was crushed a lot. I wasn’t sure I’d ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing LOVE CRUSADE. I hope they keep you company on yours.

So far, no other details — like a tracklisting or new music — have been shared. “Crush Songs” was recorded in 2006 and 2007, and is “an intimate collection of lo-fi, bedroom recordings in the vein of Karen’s Oscar-nominated ‘The Moon Song,'” a press release says.

Karen O was nominated for an Academy Award this year for “The Moon Song,” a Spike Jonze collaboration written for the film “Her.” She performed the song alongside Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig during the Oscars telecast.

Her solo debut drops Sept. 9 via Julian Casablancas’ Cult imprint.
