Bogotá has once again become the international capital of music with its 2nd successful BIME edition, the celebrated international meeting of the music industry in Latin America which is, in turn, the 12th in the world. On Wednesday, May 3rd, Ean University opened its doors to industry professionals, artists, institutions, companies and media outlets from 30 countries to do business and share knowledge through over 100 activities programmed via an intense agenda including networking, training and business roundtables.
Through this edition, BIME established itself as a window to the world and a space for unity between Europe and the Americas by hosting over 2,000 attendees at its professional conferences which included artists, producers, start-ups, students and business executives, having a wide representation of different sectors and sharing a fruitful exchange of experiences.
From the different conversations, panels and workshops, critical issues such as gender equality, sustainability, the lack of representation of Afro-Latinx artists and diversity were discussed amongst many other key topics for the present and future development of the music ecosystem.
Moreover, this edition stood out for having a new audience, made up of many young people, who showed a special interest in its educational activities, filling up the campus program masterclasses. In BIME the generations of the future are formed and the doors are opened to everyone who wants to find their place in the music industry.
A StartUp! Competition in which the most disruptive projects related to music were presented and the winner was RevMusic, a platform revolutionizing the process of exchanging music rights by administering, managing and recovering music royalties from their authors and artists in a simple, transparent and independent manner. As a reward, they received a trade mission to BIME Bilbao.
The novelty of this edition, the BIME Sessions, created a space for music collabs in the Árbol Naranja studio. 10 international artists met through songwriting and production meetings where they shared ideas and hours of brainstorming which will result in music that will be released in the coming months.
The BIME LIVE showcases hosted over 50 concerts across 5 stages between the San Felipe Creative District and The Ghetto Project, which stood out for its overwhelming attendance of the general public. Thousands of people came to enjoy the programming filling up all the venues and Parque La Araña and discovered local and international talents who will lead the festivals of the future.
Among the diverse schedule of activities open to the general public, a special edition of Open San Felipe was programmed over the weekend with free access to BIME concerts and a Vinyl Market with exclusive releases, concerts and daytime DJ sessions in Parque La Araña.
BIME talks and panels were also viewed virtually across the globe through bime.org and the mobile app which are still available on demand.
BIME also announces its next edition in Bilbao, Spain October 25th to 28th, 2023.
