Rubio, is the artistic experiment of renowned Chilean artist, drummer and producer Francisca Straube, former front woman of alt-rock trio Miss Garrison. Since 2015, she has been mixing pop, hip-hop, electronic, ambient and ethnic sounds to create her own unique sound. Her music videos are mesmerizing visuals and give us a peak into her true artistry. With two albums under her belt, Pez (2018) & Mango Negro (2020), Rubio has already performed for sessions like KEXP and at festivals all around the world including: Primavera Sound (Spain), Ruido Fest (Chicago, IL), The Great Escape (UK), and Lollapalooza (Chile). Rubio’s songs have been featured in a number of TV shows including Elite, Queen of the South, and Senorita 89. Recently, she won the prestigious Mexican award, Diosa de Plata, for her achievements in film with the song “Después de Ahogarme” which was featured in the movie La Caída.
Recently, Rubio dropped her latest single, “Tu Olor,” an upbeat love song dedicated to her girlfriend. The soft lyrics contrasted with the electronic and industrial sounds embody the artist’s essence and is a preview of her forthcoming album Venus & Blue. Next up is a performance in Mexico City’s Auditorio BB on June 30th and new music on the way!
