Los Angeles (May 4th, 2023) – The platinum-certified Puerto Rican artist Álvaro Díaz presents “YOKO“, his new single and most recent preview of his second studio album Sayonara through Universal Music Latino and under the management of Top Floor Talent and NEON16. Produced by Manuel Lara, Milkman and Yoshi, “YOKO” is a sensitive ballad that demonstrates his versatility as an artist as well as his more vulnerable side, making reference to the relationship between John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Diaz is a big fan of The Beatles and after watching the Get Back documentary, he was inspired to write a song about them.

The song is also partly inspired by the relationship of Álvaro’s grandparents, who have been together all their lives. “Their relationship has always caught my attention, it seemed like something very cool and easy,” explains Álvaro. “I want it to be the kind of beautiful song that you dedicate to a person that you want to be eternal.”

The video was directed by Juanchi Gonzålez based on an original concept by Álvaro, and was recorded between the United States and Puerto Rico. It portrays Álvaro as a rock star as he tells the story of how he met his muse and love of his life. It shows us their life together in a collage of images that is interspersed between the past and the present, highlighting the unconditional love they have for each other no matter how much time passes. Álvaro expressed that it is his favorite video that he has recorded to date.

The single comes shortly after Díaz sold out 3 shows at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in Puerto Rico. More than 9 thousand fans attended Adios Felicilandia, an impressive production inspired by Álvaro’s love for the culture of the nineties and video games with special guests: PJ Sinsuela, Lyanno, Papi Sousa, PaoPao, Yensanjuan and Joyce Santana.

Alvaro is also nominated for a Premios Tu MĂșsica Urbano in the category,  ‘Top Rising Star Masculino.’ The long-awaited delivery, will be broadcast live on Telemundo PR and also in more than 150 Spanish-speaking countries on Telemundo Internacional on Thursday, June 15, from “La Casa del ReggaetĂłn”, the Coliseo de Puerto Rico Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The complete list of nominations can be found at premiostumusicaurbano.com where fans can vote for their favorites.

2023 already looks incredibly promising for Álvaro as he continues his upward trajectory as an artist and songwriter. His last single, “1000CANCIONES” with Sen Senra, surpassed his two biggest singles to date, “Problemon” and “Babysita,” debuting at #8 on the global YouTube chart and on the Top 200 on Spotify Global Chart in 11 countries. Plus it accumulated over 1.5 million streams on Spotify within 72 hours of release. He recently penned  Rauw Alejandro’s worldwide hit “Panties y Brasieres“ with reggaetón icon Daddy Yankee and will soon make its debut at the Bottlerock festival in California from May 26-28.
