Father’s Day is around the corner and with very few options to leave home, a themed movie marathon is a great way to celebrate your favorite guy.

From emotive stories like The Pursuit of Happiness, family-friendly tales like Finding Nemo and cult titles like The Sopranos and The Godfather, here’s our list of recommended stories of fatherhood:

The Godfather

 Marlon Brando stars as one of the most iconic father figures in cinematic history in The Godfather. This is the story of an aging father and mafia boss, Don Vito Corleone (Brando), who gives control of his organization to a reluctant son played by a young Al Pacino. Critics and fans alike categorize this film as one of the best in history. Available for rent or purchase via Xfinity on Demand and  Amazon Prime Video.

The Sopranos

Even 13 years after its ending, The Sopranos continues to be critically acclaimed and one of the most watched shows during the quarantine. Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) is a New Jersey mob boss whose unimaginable personal and “professional” issues affect his mental state so much that he must seek professional counseling. A frustrated son tries to make figure out what was fact and fiction in his dying father’s life while trying to repair their relationship in the process. You can stream it on Showtime or watch it on Xfinity on Demand.

The Pursuit of Happiness

The true story of a homeless salesman who, in the middle of a bad streak and homelessness, takes custody of his son as he’s poised to begin a life-changing professional career. This heartfelt movie will remind anyone of the sacrifices fathers make and squeeze a few tears out in the process. Available on Amazon Video Prime.

Finding Nemo

In this animated adventure, a dad goes on a journey of a lifetime to find and rescue his son. This feel-good, kid-friendly movie is available on Xfinity on Demand and Amazon Prime Video.

 R (“ERRE”)

The action series tells the story of Franco Barrón (Mauricio Ochmann), a man mistreated by everyone around him. After he receives a misdiagnosis that changes him forever, he decides to enjoy what’s left of his life before everything spirals out of control when he visits a club frequented by drug traffickers. You can watch R (“Erre”) on the Spanish-language streaming service Pantaya.

 

El Presidente  

In 2015, FIFA, the single organization that runs soccer worldwide, was charged with “rampant, systemic, and deep-rooted” corruption by USA authorities. This led to the arrest of seven of their top executives in a scandal now known as “FIFA Gate.”

The highly anticipated Amazon Prime Video Original tells the story from the point of view of insider Sergio Jadue; a small‐time Chilean football club president who rose from obscurity to become a key player in the $150MM bribery conspiracy. Daddy’s Home

Will Ferrell plays a good-hearted square named Brad Whitaker, stepfather to two adorable kids who now must compete with their ultra-cool biological father Dusty (Mark Wahlberg). This laugh-out-loud, family-friendly comedy is available on Xfinity on Demand.

Mrs. Doubtfire

A Robbin Williams classic, Mrs. Doutbfire follows a recently divorced actor (Williams) who having no more options, dresses up as a family housekeeper to spend time and interact with his children. Watch it on Xfinity on Demand via HBO.

The Shining

 In this psychological thriller, Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) is a man who heads to the isolated Overlook Hotel with his wife and son to guard it for the winter. Soon, an evil force drives him towards violence while his psychic son witnesses the horrific happenings from the past and future. Available for rent on Xfinity on Demand and Amazon Prime Video.
