If Donald Trump can’t take a few snarky remarks from Bill Cosby, imagine how he’ll be if he actually runs for president?

Comments the Cos made on the Today show last Thursday to a stunned Meredith Vieira really got under the skin of the real-estate mogul turned reality star, as evidenced by his statement today accusing Cosby of being two-faced and not even in his right state of mind.

So what’s this spat all about?

The feud started when the funnyman scoffed after Vieira asked him about Trump’s presidential aspirations—particularly the Apprentice boss’s embrace of the birther movement, which falsely claims President Obama wasn’t born in the U.S.

“Oh, please with Donald Trump,” said Cosby dismissively. “Take him home with you.”

“Now why do you say that?” asked the anchor, to which the comedian replied, “Because he’s full of it.”

The criticism caught Vieira off-guard. After a few seconds of silence, she finally pressed, “Based on what?”

“Based on what I just heard,” Cosby elaborated.

Cosby then chastised the Donald for constantly flirting with a presidential run over the years—something that’s become a running joke as detractors accuse Trump of talking about it simply to publicize his various ventures.

“You run or shut up…but the only thing he’s running is his mouth,” said the TV icon.

When Meredith replied, “We’ll see if he runs,” Cosby then elicited laughs when he declared, “I don’t care!”

The interview didn’t sit well with the billionaire businessman, who said in a statement  that he “was surprised to hear [Cosby] blabber, somewhat incoherently ‘you run or shut up,” especially after Trump had “always assumed Cosby “liked or respected” him because the latter routinely invited him to dinner and chatted him up when both were on the Late Show With David Letterman.

“The hatred was pouring out of his eyes when he said this,” said Trump.

The pompous mogul then explained the reason why he has yet to officially announced his candidacy on the Republican side.

“As I am sure [Cosby] must know, I cannot run until this season of Celebrity Apprentice ends,” Trump continued. “I know that he has taken a lot of heat over the years in that he seems to be talking down to the people he’s talking to and purportedly trying to help. Actually, based on the way he acted, things are not looking too good for Cosby.”

The tycoon then let Cosby have it as if he were in the boardroom.

“I wish he would be more honest, and if he doesn’t want me to run because he’s obviously an Obama fan, he should state the reasons and not come into my ‘green room’ in front of numerous witnesses and treat me like his best friend, only to denigrate me when I’m not around,” Trump said. “Sadly, he got more attention talking about me than he did on the merits of his own appearance—maybe he is not as dumb as I thought.”

A back-handed compliment if there ever was one.

A rep for Cosby declined to comment.
