15 Years After Its Last Release, Chanel Will Circulate An All New Perfume

Gabrielle - Chanel

Chanel has some created some of the most iconic fragrances to date, including No.5 and Coco Mademoiselle, but it has been 15 years since the fashion house has unveiled a brand new scent. Today, Chanel announced it would be doing just that, and Gabrielle will be unveiled this autumn.

The brand took to Instagram to reveal the bottle, which at first glance looks remarkably similar to the classic No.5, however fans will notice Gabrielle is much cleaner and the absence of the neck ribbon.

It will be Chanel’s in-house master perfumer Olivier Polges first creation for the brand. While Olivier has worked on several new fragrances since taking over from his father Jacques Polges in 2013, including Chanel Eau Tendre and last year’s bestselling No.5 L’Eau, it will be the first perfume he’s created from scratch.

Having made fragrances for Burberry, Christian Dior and Giorgio Armani, as well as creating Viktor and Rolf’s iconic Flowerbomb, before taking up his current post, it would be impossible to predict what Olivier has in store for us. However, we’re fairly confident Gabrielle will be an olfactory game-changer, and the scent on many wishlists come Christmas time.

While the scent itself is being kept tightly under wraps, Chanel has hinted that Kristen Stewart will be the face for the campaign on social media. The actress, who has previously fronted fashion and make-up campaigns for the brand, was also at the fragrance launch party in Paris last night. While we’ve got the entire summer to wait, it’s likely that Chanel will reveal more teasers at the launch date draws closer, so stay tuned…
