50 Cent has a few surprises up his sleeve as his upcoming album Animal Ambition: An Untamed Desire to Win makes an impact on June 3rd. Along with devising a master plan to release a new track off the forthcoming independent LP each week until May 20th, the Queens rapper recently jumped the gun ahead of time, as he performed this newest number “Hold On” for those in attendance at his recent SXSW gig, where we hear he tore down the stage much to the delight of his loyal fans, who reportedly went bonkers when “Magic Stick” came on. Who would’ve thought that was possible? On here, Curtis stays true to his old formula on the brand new tune, as ‘Boo Boo’ has not altered for much of his career or for any of his trash-talking critics, as he serves up a dosage of familiar gangster lines – backed by a soulful instrumental – which brings to mind “Baltimore Love Thing,” sans the dynamic and gripping drug/love tale, of course.
“We learn to play the game how it’s supposed to be played
So you know if you violate you supposed to be sprayed
It’s not a big deal to me, I stay calm
I shoot the sh** outta nigga and call it Barrell Bonds”
Expect Fiddy to remain in his elements when Animal Ambition hits the racks this June, but challenging himself seems to appear what he’ll be doing with this record, as he tells Billboard, this LP will have a little more substance and fueled by a concept of some sort:
“This album is prosperity. It’s the positive and negative effects of prosperity,” he said. “If I’m doing too good, it’s actually not good in front of people. Prosperity makes them think you’re doing better than them, that brings envy and jealousy which then brings negative energy.”
Next up for Fiddy will be the official [digital] release of this single on March 18th, as this track along with the Yo Gotti assisted single “Don’t Worry ‘Bout It” will be available on iTunes, which is apart of the pre-order process for the LP. As stated beforehand, a new track will be released up until May 20th, a few weeks before the entire project drops on June 3. Listen to the song here via HotNewHipHop.
