As a great space hero once said, “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”

Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have left the young Han Solo Star Wars spinoff film, Lucasfilm announced Tuesday. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement that a new filmmaker “will be announced soon” to take over the project starring Alden Ehrenreich as the iconic cosmic smuggler made famous by Harrison Ford.

“Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways,” Kennedy said.

“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project,” the departing directors added in the statement. “We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew.”

The as-yet-untitled Han Solo movie has been filming in England since February, though was noticeably absent from the high-profile Star Wars Celebration event in April. In March, co-star Woody Harrelson told USA TODAY that Lord and Miller were “fantastic” directors, adding that the movie’s “going to be really good.”

Even with the change in the director’s chair, the film, which also features Donald Glover as young Lando Calrissian, is still slated for release in May 2018.
