Seth Gilliam, known for his roles on The Wire and Teen Wolf, and a current star on hit show The Walking Dead, was arrested in Peachtree City, Ga., about 30 miles southwest of Atlanta where production for season six of the The Walking Dead has begun.
Authorities told TMZ that the 46-year-old Gilliam, who plays Rev.Gabriel Stokes on The Walking Dead, was pulled over after being clocked going 107 mph in a 55 zone by an officer just after 2 a.m.
“The driver applied the brakes prior to passing my vehicle and was still traveling at 107 mph,” a the arresting police officer wrote in his report.
After being pulled over, the police officer smelled alcohol, according to reports. Initially, Gilliam attempted to defend his driving by stating he normally drove a Jeep, but because he was driving a rental, he was unused to it. The officer found the excuse as unjustifiable and asked Gilliam if he had been drinking, to which the actor responded that he had consumed three beers and a shot.
The officer administered a sobriety test to which Gilliam reportedly registered a .107 blood-alcohol level. Georgia’s driving under the influence laws make it illegal for adult drivers to operate motor vehicle if they have a blood-alcohol level that is 0.08 or higher:
In addition, the according to the reports obtained by TMZ, the police officer smelled marijuana and discovered a joint hidden in the armrest.
Gilliam is facing charges for DUI, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, reckless driving, and speeding. He was taken into custody and jailed in Fayette County Jail. Gilliam was later released after posting a $9,818 bond.
