We could argue all day about who was the worst Batman ever, but if there’s something we can agree on its how awesome Adam West’s portrayal was of the caped crusader in the 1960’s TV show Batman The Series. Of course our love of West doesn’t stop there, but it was with great joy to hear that West will be returning to the role that made him famous to celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary with a feature length film in 2016. But the awesomeness doesn’t end there. Burt Ward will also be joining West in the anniversary’s celebration, returning to his role as well.
Of course seeing as most of you would probably never get over how old Ward and West would look in their once form-fitting costumes, the film will be animated with West and Ward only lending their voices to their iconic characters. Personally I don’t mind, considering Batman and Robin’s cameos on Scooby-Doo were favorites as well.
Burt Ward who led the announcement at Charlotte, North Carolina’s Mad Monster convention also revealed that a second full length film might also be in the works, but definitely one for right now. Regardless, I’ll probably be quicker to pay money to see Adam West in a new animated Batman than Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs. Superman if we’re being honest. Snyder has tricked me too many times into seeing his terrible movies (Man of Steel was forgettable), but West on the other hand has earned my praise time and time again. He wins.
No word if the animated film will be CGI, hand drawn or even straight to DVD, but we hope to hear more in the coming weeks after their big announcement.
