The 1960s Batman Adam West and his sidekick Burt Ward will again embody their iconic roles of Batman and Robin in the animated film “Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders.”
A trailer posted Wednesday on Entertainment Weekly’s site featured West’s Batman announcing that the dynamic duo will face the “Joker, Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman on earth and — and in space.”
Julie Newmar will also be there. She was the interpreter of Catwoman in the live-action series of the 1960s, reports CNN. No other announcement regarding the cast has yet taken place, according to The Guardian.
The new film was announced a few months after the animated version of the famous comic “Batman: The Killing Joke”, released on 2 August.
The original Batman television series aired from 1966 to 1968. “Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders” will be available on Blu-Ray and digital release on November 1st.
It is not the first attempt by DC Comics to revive the franchise. In 2013, the publisher released a collection called Batman ’66, focused on exploiting the most retro and psychedelic adventures of the superheroes.
