Washington, D.C. (September, 2021) — For the next 30 days, NPR Music will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a Tiny Desk takeover, including “El Tiny” performances by J Balvin, YENDRY, Prince Royce, Sech and more.
The special series will feature 10 Tiny Desk (home) concerts, curated by NPR Music’s Alt.Latino team, as well as several Instagram Live interviews with Latinx musicians and celebrities, and some exclusive “El Tiny” merchandise.
Hispanic Heritage Month begins today and runs through October 15.
“Even though we have some of the biggest names in Latin music scheduled, our ‘El Tiny’ takeover of the Tiny Desk (home) concerts is more than just entertainment,” said Felix Contreras host of NPR Music’s Alt.Latino. “I firmly believe that music has always been an accurate barometer of what’s going on in the Latin communities here in this country. Reggaetón hip-hop, soul, Afro Latino, jazz. It’s all reflected in our line up and shows how diverse our listening habits, and our community, is.”
