Streisand is at the forefront of the “Fight the Ladykiller” campaign that launched on Nov. 12. The campaign is an effort of the Women’s Heart Alliance (WHA), founded by the entertainer.
For the WHA’s new public service announcement, Jennifer Hudson, 33, stepped up to the plate. Watch her fierce demeanor as she gets ready to fight and “stay alive.” She throws a mean punch!
In an effort for women to get their heart checked, Streisand raised more awareness at a Hearst Master Class even in New York saying, “Every woman and the men who love her should be outraged that this killer takes one out of three women each year…yet we’re not doing nearly enough to stop it.”
She further said, “We need to empower women to take charge of their health, encourage doctors to make women’s heart health a priority and direct more research toward women’s heart disease.”
Streisand, 72, founded the WHA with investor Ronald O. Perelman along with the Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute and the Ronald O. Perelman Heart Institute at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
