We’ve got to hand it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This year they’ve chosen some excellent nominees. Artists like Guns N’ Roses, The Beastie Boys, and The Cure all made this year’s list. And we’re especially proud that the multicultural band War was included too because, let’s be honest, what Hall of Fame is complete without “Low Rider?”
Other names on the 2012 roster include The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Heart,Chaka Khan, and Joan Jett. But before you get your hopes too high, keep in mind that they are all just eligible “nominees.” Only six lucky artists will actually get inducted next year.
Being as politically correct as ever, Rock Hall President Joel Peresman praised everyone under consideration.
“The 2012 nominees embody the broad scope of what ‘rock and roll’ means,” he said. “From vocal groups to hip-hop, from singer-songwriters to hard rocking artists, this group represents the spirit of what we celebrate at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”
All will be revealed at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony on April 14 2012. And if we had our pick, we’d love to see some live “Intergalactic” blended withWar’s “Spill The Wine.” With Axl Rose on backup vocals, of course.
