BioShock coming to iDevices

BioShock is to be released on iPhone and iPad this summer.

2K Games said Monday that the premium priced iOS release will deliver “the complete experience of the original” game, which launched on Xbox 360 and PC in 2007, on PS3 the following year and on Mac in 2009.

It will feature optimised touch controls and full Made for iPhone game controller support.

The game will be available “soon” and will be compatible with iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad 4, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5.

The most recent entry in the series, 2013’s BioShock Infinite, was the final title made by series creator Irrational Games, which closed its doors in February.

Asked about the future of the series in May, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said: “We haven’t given any colour on how you should think about it yet except we do believe it’s beloved; we think it’s important [and] certainly something that we’re focused on; something 2K Marin will be responsible for shepherding going forward.

“I think there’s a lot of upside in that franchise. It hasn’t necessarily been realized yet. And the question for the future, assuming we decide to answer the question, would be ‘how do you stay true to that creatively?’ ‘How do you do something exciting?’ ‘How do you do expand the market?’ That would be the natural drill.

“We’re starting from a good point on it. And certainly it’s been a great piece of business for us; it’s been a profitable piece of business.”
