Boys Gone Wild! Bear Grylls Helps Jake Gyllenhaal Discover Himself

Jake Gyllenhaal sure is pretty, what with his swishy movie star hair and bangin’ booty.

So we hope British adventurer and Man vs. Wild host Bear Grylls will return our fave Blind Vice Superstar from the dangerous Icelandic wilderness to civilization without a single scratch on his perfect person!

See, according to reps from Discovery Channel, Gylles will link up with B.G. for the premiere of the next season of the show, and “Man vs. Wild will test how Gyllenhaal measures up to unpredictable and unforgiving Mother Nature.” More unforgiving even than reviews for Prince of Persia?

But what’s the dealio with this extreme camping weekend, and why’s the pretty boy actor choosing to get all roughed up?

“For me, it’s all about discovery,” Gyllenhaal stated in the press release about the two-day survival experience that “neither will forget.”

Oh, Jakey-poo, don’t you know there are ways to discover yourself here in exotic Los Angeles? Or, ya know, some of the seedier spots in Hollywood…

But sounds like our pampered actor rose to the occasion during the excursion, as the two survived huge glaciers, some mountains and a couple of active volcanoes (just for good measure). Maybe he remembered the tips from his BrokebackMountain days on keeping warm at night?

Just brainstorming here!

Either way, he definitely impressed Grylls on their bromantic adventure.

“The wild is always very revealing—not only physically but mentally,” Grylls revealed of letting J.G. tag along. “You’ve got to smile when it’s driving horizontal hail and be able to face your fears and just get on and do it—and on both of those accounts, Jake came up strong.”

Yeah, Jake, just get on and do it! That’s what we’ve been telling you all along.

And on the episode, airing July 11, the Discovery Channel folks tell us “Jake will have to go where Bear goes, eat whatever Bear eats, and on occasion even take the lead, if he’s going to cope with some of the worst conditions known to man.”

Um, is Jake aware that Grylls has had to drink his own urine in previous episodes?

We can’t wait to see what Bear makes Jake do (or drink!)
