If you aren’t already convinced to get your skin checked regularly, perhaps Khloe Kardashian’s story will persuade you. The reality star penned a personal post on her website yesterday about a skin cancer scare she had a few years ago.
“I have moles everywhere, and a couple years ago, I noticed one growing under my breast. I immediately looked it up online and found out that if a mole is growing and changing shape, you should go to the doctor — so I did,”
Though the growth fortunately turned out to be benign, after frequent checkups, she later found a mole on her back that was cancerous, Kardashian said.
“There was one mole I had on my back that was skin cancer. I had 8 inches of skin removed. It was definitely painful because it was a lot of skin, but most of the time, the removals haven’t been that bad.”
The 32-year-old hopes her story will influence others to take better care of their skin, and even left readers with some preventative tips. The key takeaway: don’t underestimate the power of sunscreen.
“I also wear sunscreen every day, especially on my hands. Hands are always out in the sun, so they age the most. I keep extra sunscreen in the glove boxes of all of my cars in case I forget. When the sun hits my hands while I’m driving, it reminds me to slather more on!!!”
Khloe isn’t the only one in her family who’s overcome skin health issues. Her big sister Kim has also been battling psoriasis.
