Success after success continues Carlos Vives‘ way! At a press conference held in Los Angeles, California, it was announced that the Colombian superstar is one of three artists with 5 nominations each for the Latin GRAMMY awards, leading the list of nominees for the 14th annual edition of one of music’s most coveted and prestigious recognitions.
Vives has been nominated in the following categories:
- Record of the Year / Carlos Vives / Andrés Castro, Volví a nacer
- Song of the Year / Carlos Vives, Volví a nacer
- Album of the Year / Corazón Profundo
- Best Tropical Fusion Album / Corazón Profundo
- Best Tropical Song / Volví a nacer
“To be nominated is already an accomplishment, and I want all the artists in Colombia to know that these nominations are also theirs. May we win,” said a moved Vives.
These distinctions by The Latin Recording Academy follow in what has been an incredible and historic return to the music industry by the beloved singer, producer, composer, and actor who opened the doors of vallenato music and other Colombian folk rhythms to the world. His current tour, Corazón Profundo (also the name of his new album), has been a resounding success, and with his latest single,
Bailar Contigo, Vives once more tops the Billboard Latin Airplay Chart!
That’s right: Bailar Contigo is the third #1 hit for Vives from Corazón Profundo, after the first two singles, Volví a nacer and Como le gusta a tu cuerpo, also reached number one. Vives, along with his band La Provincia, has become a true icon of Latin music, and during the month of October he will be taking his spectacular show to Mexico, Colombia, Paraguay, Venezuela, and Spain.
The 14th annual Latin GRAMMY awards will air live on the Univisión TV network from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central.
