Céline Dion’s Successful Shows Are a Family Affair

It didn’t take much for Céline Dion to realize she wasn’t ready to retire after welcoming fraternal twins Eddy and Nelson last October.

“I’m having a great time as a singer to do, I think, an amazing show. It’s such a grand, chic, beautiful ‘Hollywood like the old days’ show,” Dion — who returned to the stage five months after delivering the babies — tells ET Canada.

“They work that trumpet, they work that violin, I work that dress, I’m telling you — we have a great time!”

However, while she may be confident in her decision, Dion, 43, admits leaving her children — including 10-year-old son René-Charles — to perform hasn’t gotten any easier.

“It is very intense so I try to get here as late as possible and get home as quick as I can,” she says. “The first thing before I start a show, I think of my kids and always say, ‘This one’s for you guys.’”

Fortunately for Dion and husband René Angélil, life is made a bit easier with the help of the singer’s sister, who now lives with the couple to help care for the children. “She takes the kids during the night so, in between the feeds, I sleep,” Dion shares.

“So I feed Nelson then she comes back and takes Nelson [and] brings me Eddy. Two breasts, two babies, that’s fine — there’s only so much that you can do.”

Through it all, one thing Dion isn’t worried about? The pressure to regain her body after baby. “I gained more than 60 pounds. So, to me, it was not about going back to my size zero or two or four,” she explains.

“If it has to be an empire waist this way and wear one dress for the whole show — I’m going to do it. I don’t care. I’m a singer, not a model.”
