Christina Aguilera is officially back, and she’s letting you know she’s not about to Fall In Line.
The songstress joins forces with Demi Lovato for a new duet, and it’s a feminist anthem wrapped in a vocal standout performance for both singers.
The singers unite for the power ballad about inner strength and being outspoken, with Aguilera kicking off the song singing: “No one told me/But you deserve to know/That in this world, you are not beholden/You do not owe them/Your body and your soul.”
A distorted voice in the song repeats a marching cadence, posing the question: “Who told you you’re allowed to think?” And according to the rest of the song lyrics, Aguilera and Lovato are powerfully answering that question.
“I got a mind to show my strength/And I got a right to speak my mind/And I’m gonna pay for this,” the diva duo belt out in the fiery chorus. “They’re gonna burn me at the stake/But I got a fire in my veins/I wasn’t made to fall in line.”
Aguilera, 37, is in the midst of a comeback with her upcoming album Liberation (out June 15), her first new record in six years. Fall In Line is the third single off the album, following her 2 Chainz and Ty Dolla $ign-assisted Accelerate and the ballad Twice.
The duo is set to perform their new collab at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday
