SESAC Latina-affiliated artist Nicky Jam took the spotlight at Univision’s Premios Juventud (Youth Awards), winning two accolades at the 2016 awards event.
As Nicky Jam maintains his status as one of the most influential singers and songwriters not just in
Latin music but worldwide, he took home the trophies for Red Hot Artist and My Favorite Urban Artist.
This recognition coincides with the international success of his latest hit, “Hasta El Amanecer” (Until Dawn), which is #1 on many charts around the world, including Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs.
Also emerging victorious at this ceremony was the Cuban duo Gente de Zona, who like Nicky Jam are signed to SESAC Latina, the most progressive performing-rights organization in the industry.
Gente de Zona, comprising SESAC Latina affiliates Randy Malcom and Alexander Delgado, won in the Perfect Combination category for their chart-topper “La Gozadera” (Good Times), featuring Marc Anthony.
The winners of Premios Juventud are selected by online voting via www.univision.com. In addition to multiple music categories that include English-language hitmakers, these awards honor the best talents in cinema, telenovelas, sports and social media.
