Derek Hough on Shoulder Injury: ‘I Need a Nice Lady to Take Care of Me’

Despite suffering a dislocated shoulder, Derek Hough’s ballroom routine with sister Julianne Houghwent off without a hitch onTuesday night’s episode ofDancing with the Stars
Although the older Hough, 26, says he got through his performance with the help of cortisone shots, he says he’ll heal completely only the help of a woman’s TLC.

“I just need a nice lady to take care of me,” he told PEOPLE backstage after Tuesday night’s show. “That’s all I need.”

Hough, who has recently been photographed holding hands with former Hills star Lauren Conrad, declined to comment about a possible romance after Monday’s show. But on Tuesday, he did talk about the intense pain he felt leading up to his injury.

“My shoulder bothered me this morning,” he said. “It was excruciating. It popped out for a second. I’ll take it easy a little bit and see how it is, but it’s fine.”

Despite the pain, his performance with his sister – their first together on TV since season 8 of ABC’s hit show – was well worth it.

“It was just a nice sentimental moment for both of us,” Derek said. “We had just barely choreographed the routine and put it together last minute, but it was great.”
