The animated tale tells the story of princess Anna and pal Kristoff who team up for an epic adventure to find Anna’s sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom in eternal Everest-like weather conditions.
It’s already topped the success of the Lion King and Finding Nemo, making it Disney’s highest-grossing original animated movie ever.
Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee did a Reddit Ask Me Anything on Monday, which is where rumours of a sequel to the film first emerged. When questioned about the possibility of its return, they coyly answered: “Anything’s possible, who knows what’s next. We love these characters.”
And the directors of the film don’t seem to be the only ones thinking that the animation has potential for a sequel. Disney Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger said at a conference call: “This has real franchise potential. Expect to see continued interest in this and continued impact on the bottom line for quite a while. Its success speaks volumes on the future of the animation at our company.”
Luckily for us, it doesn’t look like Disney want to quite let go of this icy tale just yet!
