‘Doctor Who’ Movie On The Way

It’s finally happening, Doctor Who fans: the TARDIS will be landing on the big screen.

The famed British sci-fi television series, which ran from 1963 to 1989 and was rebooted in 2005, will be adapted into a feature film, Variety reports. BBC, alongside “Harry Potter” director David Yates, will come together on a film that will take the series in an entirely new direction from the ongoing TV series that currently stars Matt Smith as the Doctor.

Yates told Variety that they’ll be taking their time to transform and expand the series to fit both a movie screen and the length and depth of a feature film.

Just who will be playing the Doctor remains to be seen, though it sounds unlikely that Smith will take the role of the alien space-traveling genius into the film. Yates worked with the most recent previous Doctor, David Tennant, in the “Harry Potter” series, but it also stands to reason that they won’t be bringing back an old Doctor. Presumably, then, the alien Doctor will take another form for the film.
