Don’t get us wrong, eight years is a fantastic TV run. But seeing how much we love Eva Longoria and the Wisteria Lane ladies, we’re seriously hoping the new Desperate Housewives rumors aren’t true. Because according to Perez Hilton, this latest Housewives season may be the last.
As we all know, Housewives is an incredibly expensive series to produce. Just the star salaries alone are enough to break ABC’s bank. And if the advertiser revenue can’t match the budget costs, that’s when you have a problem.
Sadly, Housewives‘ ratings have been slowly slipping in the last few seasons. Fan faves like Dana Delaney and Drea De Matteo have left the show and, let’s be honest, some of those plot lines have gotten a little far-fetched.
But that doesn’t mean that Eva and company can’t pull it together when the show returns this fall. Reports are claiming that the “option” of continuing for more years is very much a reality, IF the ladies can attract more viewers. But even if they don’t, there’s still hope. Because if popular soaps like All My Childrencan continue their run in cyberspace, why can’t the Housewives?
