There’s a new movie remake in town — the 1987 comedy, Overboard, is being redone in a big way.
The original tells the story of a spoiled, selfish heiress (played by Goldie Hawn) who eventually falls for a working class carpenter, played by Kurt Russell. The remake, however, is mixing things up in the form of a role reversal. Anna Faris will star as the female protagonist, who is a single, working mother, Variety reports. Eugenio Derbez will play a playboy who comes from one of Mexico’s wealthiest families. He falls overboard his yacht, and is then convinced by Fari’s character that he is her husband.
Derbez not only stars in the movie, but is also co-producer alongside Ben Odell. In 2013, Derbez directed, wrote, and starred in Instructions Not Included, a Mexican comedy which became the highest-grossing Spanish-language film ever released in the U.S. The actor is also confirmed for the upcoming film How to Be a Latin Lover, alongside Raquel Welch.
Early last year, the 55-year-old actor received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.“Movies got inside my heart, under my skin,” he said, on his success. “So thanks mom, thanks dad, for infecting me with the virus of the show business.”
