Get ready America, Eugenio Derbez’ publicity blitz is officially in motion. The Mexican comic is now gracing the big screen in Jack & Jill and will soon be co-starring with Rob Schneider in the new CBS sitcom, ¡Rob! Speaking with Latina, Eugenio seemed very excited about his U.S. television debut.
“[¡Rob! is going to be] a really, really funny series!” Eugenio explained. “Remember the movie Meet the Parents? Well this is like, Meet the Mexicans!”
Several famous Latinos will be joining Derbez and Schneider for the sitcom, including Cheech Marin, Diana Maria Riva, and Lupe Ontiveros. They will all be playing in-laws to the Deuce Bigalow star and tossing out plenty of politically incorrect jokes.
“There’s this culture clash when they arrive,” Eugenio went on to say. “It’s a really funny situation.”
And so far, ¡Rob! seems to be on the CBS fast track. Several episodes of the half-hour comedy have already been filmed and the network plans to premiere the series on January 12th. And as if that isn’t keeping Derbez busy enough, he’s also set to costar in Eva Mendes’ upcoming movie, Girl In Progress.
