You know expectations are high when a movie gets a sequel before it’s even released in theaters. And that’s the case for Fede Alvarez’ new Evil Dead reboot, which has already gotten the green light for a Part II.
Dead is scheduled to scare up some big box office numbers this April. And the Uruguayan-born director was quick to hype the sequel during a panel discussion at SXSW.
“We already started writing Evil Dead II,” Fede enthusiastically told the crowd.
Alvarez was joined in the Q&A by producers Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert (who were part of the original Evil Dead trilogy). Each of them praised the young filmmaker for his talents and for not holding back on the hardcore gore.
Interestingly enough, producer Raimi is in the midst of negotiating yet another sequel. His Oz The Great and Powerful scored huge numbers this weekend, which means more Part II’s to come.
