George Lucas’ ‘Red Tails’ Trailer Flies Online

The “Red Tails” trailer has soared onto the Internet at long last, and it sure does look impressive.

It’s been a while since we saw any war movie have such impressive aerial scenes as “Red Tails” is showing off. The trailer comes at us from Yahoo, and though it was a long time coming (about 23 years in the dreaming, to be exact), if taking its sweet time to come to theaters is the price we had to pay for those aerial fight scenes to look as gorgeous as they do, then it’s a price we’re willing to pay.

“Red Tails” follows the true story of the Tuskegee Airmen who fought with the Allied forces in World War II. The Tuskegee men were segregated black pilots who were given second-rate planes and missions after they were shipped out into combat. But when a dangerous mission arose — providing safe escort to bombers in broad daylight — the Tuskegee pilots stepped up to the challenge in order to fight for their country and against the racial discrimination that had been holding them back.

The flick stars Terrence HowardBryan CranstonCuba Cooding JrMethod Man, Ne-Yo and Nate Parker and is directed by “Treme’s” Anthony Hemingway. “Red Tails” has been something of a passion project for George Lucas, who began developing the idea back in 1988. It wasn’t until 2007 that John Ridley came on board to write the screenplay for the movie, and then the next year that Hemingway signed up as director.
