Ouch! Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis gave a whole new meaning to slicing on Thanksgiving.
The TV chef cut her finger while slicing the turkey she’d just finished cooking on a live broadcast of her holiday special Saturday, reports Radar Online.
“She seemed to go pale and got very quiet putting pressure on it and whispering to Ina (Garten) that it was bad,” a witness told the website. “She looked like she was about to faint.”
De Laurentiis reportedly left right after the incident to seek medical attention for her injury and returned approximately 15 minutes later to continue with the broadcast, which has not been replayed since it’s original airing.
De Laurentiis was joined by other famous cooks, Garten, Alton Brown, and Bobby Flay, for the Food Network special.
“#savegiada’s finger,” Brown joked on Twitter.

The head chef in charge found humor in Brown’s comments and responded retweeting his message with a smiley face as she was well aware that no part of her finger had actually fallen off. However, the cut was deep and definitely looked like it would hurt any food aficionado.
