“It’s going to be daunting, but I have no doubt whatsoever that we are going to be able to do it and so much fun to be a part of the processes,” Gloria Estefan told the Daily News.
Estefan, along with the musical’s producers, will search the globe for actresses to play the character of Gloria Estefan at two ages — in her teens and her twenties.
The musical will be bilingual and span Estefan’s early years in Miami as well as her recovery from a broken back in 1990.
As previously reported, The Nederlander Organization announced it would produce the show in partnership with executive producer Bernie Yuman, who is producer and manager for the Las Vegas show Siegfried & Roy as well as a longtime friend and business associate of the Estefans.
Additional details, including the Nederlander’s current involvement and a Broadway timeline, have not been announced.
