Grumpy Cat Meme Just Got a Lifetime TV Movie

Marilyn Manson Calls On Johnny Depp & Ninja For Halloween concert 4

For those not amused by the seemingly instantaneous jump from jack o’lanterns to Christmas trees in the span of 24 hours, you have a kindred spirit in Grumpy Cat. The Internet-meme sensation is about to star in her own holiday movie, and if the first trailer is any indication, “Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever” is the perfect antidote to the annual onslaught of Yuletide cheer.

The film stars Aubrey Plaza (“Parks & Recreation“) in the voice-over role of the titular cat (played by Grumpy Cat herself, Tardar Sauce) who can miraculously talk to a 12-year-old girl named Chrystal. Will these mismatched pals bring love and joy back into each other’s hearts this holiday season? Probably, but Grumpy won’t be too thrilled about it.

If you’ve had it with another Christmas filled with sappy, decades-old cinematic tropes like “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings,” not to worry. Grumpy’s got a whole slew of updated, 2014-friendly catchphrases for the sourpuss in all of us: Just try to not sing “Jingle bells, Christmas smells” after watching the trailer.

“Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever” premieres on Lifetime, Saturday, November 29.
