‘Halloween’ Sequel Will Be Bringing Back Jamie Lee Curtis As Laurie Strode

‘Halloween’ Sequel Will Be Bringing Back Jamie Lee Curtis

The Final Girl is a tried and true genre trope in American slasher movies, and no actress has made the character type her own quite like Jamie Lee Curtis (who one could argue is the Mother of All Final Girls in John Carpenter’s Halloween). Now, Curtis is returning to the role Laurie Strode, in David Gordon Green and Danny McBride’s upcoming take on the iconic stalk and slash franchise.

But how is this going to work? Co-writers Green and McBride have gone on record stating that their movie is not a remake, but a direct continuation of the first two films (which, if fans will remember, Laurie is practically the only survivor of the grisly hospital blaze that ends Rick Rosenthal’s Halloween II). Are we picking up decades later, checking in on a grown Laurie as she deals with ghosts of her ancient familial lineage? Or is Laurie merely going to be a side character, and Curtis is to be digitally de-aged (a la fellow Carpenter vet, Kurt Russell, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. II)?

Whatever the hell comes of this, we’re totally pumped. David Gordon Green’s Halloween releases from Universal Pictures October 19, 2018.
