Hans Zimmer Getting To Work On Composing ‘Aquaman’ & ‘Wonder Woman’ Themes

Back in November it reported that composer Hans Zimmer will team up with Junkie XL to provide the score for Warner Bros.’ highly-anticipated DC Comics adaptation Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. With post-production currently under way, MTV caught up with Hans Zimmer on the Oscars red carpet, where he revealed that he hasn’t quite begun work on the score yet. He also talked about providing the individual themes for incoming heroes such as Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. Here’s what he had to say, revealing that he already has a couple of ideas in mind for the entire Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice soundtrack:

“I have one day off and you guys have to go right to the unwritten score. No, I’ve got an idea. I’ve got a couple of ideas.”

Last week, fans finally got their first glimpse at Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, who is believed to make his first appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice alongside fellow Justice League members Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). When asked if he is working on individual themes for these heroes already, Hans Zimmer had this to say, pretty much confirming that Aquaman will make his debut appearance in the upcoming DC Comics adventure:

“I’m trying, I’ll put it that way. We’re in early days. But yes, of course, ideally that’s what you want to do.”

When asked if he plans on coming back to score Justice League and all of the other stand alone superhero movies that will follow, Hans Zimmer had this to say, while confirming that Junkie XL will work on the Batman themes, because of his history with Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy.

“Look, the studio is going to hedge its bet, if I ruin this one… And at the same time you have to remember I come from ten years of doing Batman, so it’s really important to me not to betray the work we did with Chris. It’s reinventing it, and the way I’m reinventing it is by not doing the Batman part. I’m getting my friend Junkie XL to do the Batman part, so it’s a bit of a different tone.”

Take a look at Hans Zimmer’s full video interview with MTV below.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes to theaters March 25th, 2016 and stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.
