Actor Jamie Waylett, who plays Vincent Crabbe in the Harry Potter series, was sentenced to two years’ jail time for his actions in the London riots last summer.
Appropriately so, Waylett’s Potter character is also a bad apple, acting as a henchman to Draco Malfoy in 6 of the films. He was cut from the last two movies after he was arrested for growing pot at his mom’s house, no pun intended.
Waylett was allegedly caught on tape from a supermarket security camera while he held a Molotov cocktail. Waylett’s lawyer claimed he was
“intimidated into accepting the gasoline bomb from a masked rioter who ‘knew where he lived’ and teasingly called him ‘Harry.'”
Waylett’s lawyer argued that the only reason he was at the scene at the time was because he was “fascinated” by the spectacle of it all. Jamie got two years in jail for violent disorder and a year for handling stolen goods. He will be eligible for parole next year after serving the two concurrent sentences.
